Miawpukek Horizon Maritime Services and Horizon Maritime Services Media Statement

June 22, 2023⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

On behalf of all of us at Miawpukek Horizon Maritime Services and Horizon Maritime Services, we wish to express our deep condolences and support for the family, friends and colleagues of the Titan crew.  We are saddened by today’s tragic news as we have continued to work towards and hold out hope for their safe return.

We want to commend our crews on the Polar Prince and Horizon Arctic who have worked tirelessly over the last number of days on the search and rescue effort.  The work the crews and contractors have carried out under these difficult circumstances is a testament to their professionalism and dedication to their work. In particular the crew on the Polar Prince for carrying out command responsibilities early in the search and the Horizon Arctic crew for so quickly moving the US ROV to the site and then deploying it today for the search.

We ask that you please respect the sensitive nature of this incident for our employees and the family of the victims.

Chief Misel Joe, Chief Miawpukek First Nation

As Saqamaw and Chief of Miawpukek First Nation, I want to express my deep sadness and the sadness felt in my community upon hearing of the loss of the Titan crew. I want to thank all of those across the country and the world for their prayers for the crew’s safe return.

We are so grateful of Miawpukek Horizon Maritime Services’ staff and crew as they have worked so hard over the last number of days to support their friends and colleagues.

We share your grief, and we offer our condolences at this difficult time to all of the family, friends and colleagues.
