KOTUG Canada representatives from our Canadian and Netherland offices cycle together-apart to support the Mission to Seafarers.

KOTUG Canada is a loyal supporter of the Mission to Seafarers, enabling them to provide good shore-based facilities and on-ship support to all seafarers, especially during the challenges for crew affected globally by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Though the event looks slightly different this year, we join the annual Cycling for Seafarers event in Vancouver to put this great cause in the spotlight and to hopefully inspire others.

The goal of Mission to Seafarers Vancouver has remained the same since the organization began in England in the 1830’s, that is: “To care for the spiritual, physical  and emotional needs of all seafarers and their families”.

Even before the world was effected by the COVID19 pandemic, seafarers were isolated from their families and their social groups for many months at a time at sea. Due to evolving travel restrictions, many seafarers are stuck for even longer periods of time on vessels.  These are essential workers who transport 90% of our required goods globally on a daily basis; needless to say that now more than ever these seafarers need our support.

This year we are riding together-apart between the offices in Canada and the Netherlands as One KOTUG, One Team; because Seafarers are key workers; because quitting is not an option  and not in our vocabulary.
