(St. John’s, NL – May 11, 2022) Later this month, as part of the Annual Conference & Exhibition 2022, Energy NL will honour excellence in the Newfoundland and Labrador energy industry. During a gala awards ceremony taking place at the St. John’s Convention Centre, Tuesday, May 31, 2022, the Energy NL Industry Achievement Awards will recognize individuals and companies who have made an extraordinary contribution to the energy industry.

Energy NL held a nomination process with members for awards in five categories which include individual and company awards. This year sees the addition of three new awards, one which recognizes individual commitment to diversity and inclusion, another to recognize an Energy NL member for environmental sustainability initiatives, and one to acknowledge business growth by an Energy NL member.

The Energy NL John C. Crosbie Award for Outstanding Contribution recognizes individuals who have provided exemplary service to the energy industry of Newfoundland and Labrador and who throughout their career have advocated for and supported the inclusion and growth of Energy NL members and Newfoundland and Labrador companies in the energy industry. This year, the recipient of the Energy NL John C. Crosbie Award for Outstanding Contribution is Max Ruelokke.

The Energy NL Rising Star Award recognizes outstanding achievement by an impressive individual, 40 years old or under, who has made remarkable strides in their role within the Newfoundland and Labrador energy industry. The 2022 recipient of the Energy NL Rising Star Award is Susan Collins of PF Collins International Trade Solutions.

The Energy NL Diversity and Inclusion Award recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to the Newfoundland and Labrador energy industry in the area of diversity and inclusion, and their efforts have had a positive impact on their business or organization, or the local industry. The 2022 recipient of the Energy NL Diversity and Inclusion Award is Aimee Sheppard of Cenovus Energy.

The Energy NL Business Growth Award recognizes a member company which has achieved exceptional growth and success in its business through market development, export, diversification, and leadership. The 2022 recipient of the Energy NL Business Growth Award is NSB-Omega Group.

The Energy NL Innovation in Environmental Sustainability Award recognizes a member company which has achieved success in innovation through the development and implementation of an innovative product, technology, process, program, or policy which has or will benefit the Newfoundland and Labrador energy industry by reducing its environmental footprint and help the industry achieve net zero by 2050. The 2022 recipient of the Energy NL Innovation in Environmental Sustainability Award is Miawpukek Horizon Maritime Services Ltd.

Aimee Sheppard has led a forward-looking approach to diversity and inclusion within her organization, as demonstrated by her nomination from Inclusion NL.
