We respect Treaty Rights to hunt, fish, and gather; We respect the right for fishers in the Atlantic Provinces to earn a fair and equal livelihood.
Violence, destruction, and endangerment of human life is unacceptable and must not continue.
We urge the Federal Government and the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard to expedite a resolution with Mi’kmaq leaders and commercial fishers to clarify, implement, and honour the Marshall Decision and take actionable steps towards a mutually beneficial, respectful, and peaceful way forward.
